AllergyPal

Anaphylaxis care plan sharing app
Problem
  • Parents experience stress and anxiety when sharing their child's food allergy plan through traditional paperwork.
  • Paper-based communication of allergy plans can be cumbersome and inefficient.
  • There's a need for more streamlined and less stressful methods for parents to communicate food allergy plans.
Solution
  • AllergyPal assists parents in managing their child's food allergies through a digital platform.
  • It allows parents to share their child's ASCIA action plan easily and securely.
  • The app helps caregivers recognize signs of allergic reactions and provides guidance on appropriate first aid.
Outcome
  • AllergyPal was co-designed by MCRI, Allergy & Anaphylaxis Australia, and ASCIA as a free mobile app. The app exemplifies a collaborative approach to digital health solutions for managing food allergies.
  • AllergyPal has been recognized for its innovation, winning the Australian Digital Health Association’s Innovation Challenge.
  • AllergyPal has expanded to the US. External investment allowed the app to be commercialised across Aust and the USA with plans of extending out into Asia and the UK
